Local 31 proudly represents skilled railroad mechanical workers across some of the most respected transportation systems in the Northeast, including Metro-North Railroad, Amtrak, CSX Transportation, New England Central Railroad, and RailTerm.

Our members are highly trained sheet metal workers and railroad mechanical professionals who perform the essential work of inspecting, maintaining, repairing, fabricating, and modernizing the equipment that keeps America's rail network operating safely and efficiently. From commuter rail systems carrying thousands of passengers each day to freight railroads supporting the nation's economy, Local 31 members play a vital role in keeping the transportation industry moving.
