Local 78 proudly represents the skilled railroad mechanical workers of the American Midwest and South, serving members employed by Union Pacific Railroad and Alton & Southern Railway. Our members are an essential part of the railroad industry, providing the expertise, craftsmanship, and dedication necessary to keep freight operations moving safely and efficiently across the nation.

 

From locomotive maintenance and repair to fabrication, inspection, and mechanical service work, Local 78 members perform critical functions that support one of the largest transportation networks in North America.
